Short-term transit plans focus on immediate service improvements, operational efficiencies, and quick wins for a transit system. Long-term plans involve major infrastructure projects, system expansions, and strategic visions for the future, often spanning several years or decades. LTRT excels at both.
The Niagara Transit Commission (NTC) hired Left Turn Right Turn to complete their inaugural 10-year Transit Master Plan including facilities, assets, and network planning to transform the transit services across Niagara Region. Operating as Niagara Transit, this 10-year Transit Master Plan strives to deliver consistent and equitable transit services across the twelve Local Area Municipalities while improving transportation options for the region’s nearly 500,000 residents. LTRT has partnered with CIMA+ on this assignment, who is delivering expertise in municipal and transit asset management to support the facilities and strategic assets master plan.

LTRT developed TheRide 2045 – a long-range transportation plan for the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (AAATA). The plan developed a strategic path for the organization to enable it to better meet its goals. Analysis included forecasting demand and regional context over the next 25 years with consideration for how the AAATA should adapt and plan to effectively support the community in the future.
The plan charts an ambitious but realistic transit future with two BRT lines, a modified network structure, and a doubling of service. The work plan included significant stakeholder and public engagement to ensure broad support is achieved, as well as collaboration with staff at all levels to draw on their experience operating the current services. The quality of the plan and our ability to develop community buy-in for it is demonstrated by a subsequent transit ballot box win.
The 25-year transit plan helped lead to 61% support for a transit millage across three municipalities in Washtenaw County that will quick-start funding for the plan with new local taxes.

LTRT supported the City of Brampton with the development of 2023-2027 Brampton Transit Business Plan. The plan provides organizational strategy and direction for the next five years, and aligns future steps with Brampton’s 2040 vision and the transportation master plan.
Specifically, the business plan will refine Brampton Transit's approach to bus electrification, on-demand transit, and pandemic recovery, new service areas and expanding BRT and LRT. The plan also provides near- and medium-term direction for Brampton Transit regarding fare policy and structure. It establishes fare levels for coming years, as well as introduces opportunities for fare policy changes that would move the agency in the direction of the Brampton 2040 fare-free vision.
